Anyone can hoist a main sail in calm water. But can you hoist a main sail in a storm?

I pay those guys more because I know they can, and because I know they can teach others how to do it too. 

Equal pay for equal work is a hot topic, but nobody talks about equal pay for equal skill. Or even the idea that you may well be paying some of your staff for a skillset you hope you never need.
